This actor, who became a star after one show, is now jobless and in debt.
Many actors who attain stardom early in their careers, later leave industry and fail to maintain the stardom. One such actor, who became a star with one show, left acting and is now struggling to get work.
The actor we are talking about starred in one of the hit shows and gained stardom with just one role. However, he quit the show after 12 years and is now asking for work. The actor was forced to sleep on railway stations. He is none other than Gurucharan Singh.
Gurucharan Singh made his acting debut in the show Left Righ Left wherein he played the small role of a taxi driver. He then got his big break with Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah wherein he played the role of Roshan Singh Sodhi. The show made him a star. His performance in the show was much appreciated by the audience and made him one of the favourite characters in the show.
However, after working in one of the longest-running shows in India for 12 years, Gurucharan Singh left the show due to his father's health issues and because he wanted to focus on his family. However, this break led him into trouble. The actor recently went missing and his father lodged a complaint in the police. However, the actor came back on his own.
In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, Gurucharan recalled sleeping on railway platforms and at bus stands during his disappearance. "Mein hotel mein toh jaa nahi sakta tha. Paise bhi waise the nahin (I couldn't go to the hotel. There was no money either)."
When asked about how he managed to wear the same clothes. The actor said, "I had very less clothes and had thrown away some because I felt my bag was full. I didn't even have to take a bath for 1-2 days."
He revealed that he had kept an extra T-shirt in his bag, thinking that he might need it during his journey ahead. "I would wash my T-shirt at Gurudwara and keep it for drying. In case, I did not have the time, I would wear the same wet T-shirt and leave. My trouser I wore for 17 days without washing. I prayed to God about it."
In one of his interviews, Gurucharan accepted that he was facing financial problems after leaving Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah and he tried to set up businesses but they failed and he was in debt. He added that now he wants to work and settle all his loans one by one. In fact, he has told all his friends in the industry that he wants to work and requested them to inform him if there is anything that he can do.
