What is lymphoma?
Lymphoma is a type of blood cancer that negatively affects the functioning of immune system, i.e., the body's disease fighting system including the - lymph nodes, spleen, thymus gland and bone marrow.
The two main types of lymphoma include Hodgkin’s lymphoma and non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
Symptoms
Symptoms of lymphoma include - fever, night sweats, fatigue, itchy skin, painless swelling of lymph nodes in the belly, neck, armpits or groin, pain in chest, abdomen or bones, and sudden weight loss. Some of the factors that cause the blood cancer may include, family history, weak immune system, infection, or age.
Treatment
According to Mayo Clinic, treatments for lymphoma include radiation, immunotherapy, chemotherapy, bone marrow transplant and targeted therapy.
“Sometimes, a combination of treatments is used. The treatment that’s best for you will depend on the kind of lymphoma that you have,” it states.
